DETECTOR UPDATES
- APD-based readout of PbWO4 (Andres, Rishabh, Richard)
- got feedback from Giessen Univ. group. See emails from Rainer Novotny and Stefan Diehl
- implemented Rainer/Stefan's suggestions and now see a signal
- to reduce background, would like to try tests with amplifier
- discussion about amplifier availability at JLab next week (Greg, TH, + 2ODU)
- Pixel detector update (Rachel)
- very busy, but making good progress
- will be overseeing the tracker integration (cylinders with tracker) - due to time constraints at other facilities some module/disk testing may have to be done as well
DIRC RECONSTRUCTION (Greg)
- Discussion about basic principles:
- translation of a segmented hit pattern into Cherenkov angle phase space - match track of event to look up table containing all possible combinations of photon being reflected, calculate likelihood
- (combinatorial) background from false tracks is a big concern - some of it alleviated by use of timing information
- reconstruction depends a lot on the expansion volume - most popular is the prism
- important considerations in DIRC construction: optical finishing of bars, alignment
- GlueX will use Babar DIRC bars
- four bars per box - optical coupling
- tests will be done on each box, but not bars separately - main concern is damage to optical glue as boxes have been used in previous experiments
- Example of software in MIT PhD thesis [ADD]
ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING
- Analysis updates - postponed from today
- Kaon data analysis Jefferson Lab 6 GeV (Marco)
- Opportunities for pion form factor measurements with E12-09-011 (Salina)
NEXT MEETING: WED. 26 OCTOBER AT 10:00 AM (EDT)
