General Meeting Summary 10/26/16

APD-BASED READOUT FOR PBWO4 (Greg and TH)

• Met with Holly Vance from ODU. Holly will check if hardware (preamplifiers, APDs etc) are available to loan to CUA for tests

• Some information about use and testing of APDs for the Heavy Photon Search experiment in Hall B. The APDs were the same as those used in CLAS12 and the same methods were used for testing

• Note on testing APDs
• CLAS12 note describing the benchmarking/testing procedure
• Recovery using LEDs

KAON ANALYSES 6 GEV JLAB (Marco)

• Presentation and discussion of Marco's analysis

• Overall looks very good - new optics from 2003 seems to do a good job describing HMS momentum acceptance

• Action items:

• separated cross sections and form factor extraction
• Projections E12-09-011 (Salina)

PIXEL DETECTORS (Rachel)

• Presentation and discussion of pixel detector assembly that will take place at CUA

• class1 clean room being built
• discussion of general approach and instrumentation that will be shipped
• discussion of wire bonding details and deformation, scanning electron microscope nice to have for pictures of the bond like that on page 14/bottom
• encapsulation using sylgard - same as we use in NP for bonding PMTs to, e.g., scintillators
• anticipate 98% efficiency for detector overall. Dead readout chips would be replaced, but have sufficient redundancy for dead pixels
• Tracking is not envisioned part of the trigger in the near future, but may be after the upgrade

• Did not get to the details of the electronics tests of modules - next time!
