DETECTOR UPDATES
- Pixel detectors (Rachel)
- cylinders have arrived at CERN - currently working on integration in CMS Point 5 area
- challenging aspect: getting cylinders with modules installed to the clean room - special trucking procedure, cylinders have to be hand-carried
- CO2 will be available on 14 Nov
- Shipments of instrumentation from Nebraska to CUA are being prepared - discuss offline about details of the shipments for most efficient way to receive and store
- NPS APD-based readout (Andres)
- Setup for electronics testing ongoing - trying to get motherboard to identify pin labeling for, e.g. HV
- In parallel will start constructing shielding for the entire setup - next time: drawings of the configuration
- Check when need to return pre-amplifiers to Giessen U. (TH)
- Crystal measurements (Richard, Salina, Marco)
- Fixed Linux kernel crash on DAQ computer
- Updated crystal light yield (LY) measurement procedure
- Selected SICCAS J19 for initial LY measurement - temperature currently stabilizing
- Next: measure Crytur crystal to investigate observed discrepancies in light yield over last nine months
- Aerogel detector (Arthur)
- SP-11 tray has 7 layers installed now - need to investigate what needs to be done to install the 8th layer. Currently have ~1cm space left and tiles thickness is 1.1-1.2 cm
- Next steps:
- finish aerogel tile installation and install wires (target date: before Thanksgiving break)
- install SP-11 tray in Hall C SHMS detector stack (December)
- SP-11 cosmic tests
- NPS single crystal counter (Arthur)
- Prototype ready. Currently used mu metal is thicker than what was used previously - need confirmation of thickness of mu metal required to shield out 5-10 Gauss fields.
- Next: signals from prototype
UPDATE FROM DIPLEPTON WORKSHOP IN TRENTO (Vardan)
- Workshop geared towards GPD and TMD studies, ~30 attendants (mostly theorists)
- topics: J/Psi, pentaquark, TCS, DDVCS, DVCS
- TCS session and global view (Vardan, Pawel)
- theorists very interested in TCS - out of all dilepton processes seems the only one on solid ground
- experimentalists more skeptical about balance between impact of physics case and required experimental effort
- Marie expects to work on TCS kinematic generator in next few months
- Next steps towards a proposal: best seems to separate TCS from other processes - perhaps write a separate White paper on this subject - we will discuss more about this next time
OTHER
- Lab electrical safety training
- Data acquisition system training
- APS April meeting - registration and apply for support from JSA and GSA (Salina forwarded the information)
NEXT MEETING: THUR 16 NOVEMBER at 10:00 AM (EST)
