DETECTORS AT JLAB (Arthur, Hamlet, Vardan, Greg)
- Aerogel
- SP-11 tray now has the additional structure installed to accommodate the 9th layer of aerogel tiles
- action item: install the last layer of aerogel and wires, install cover, mark tray, setup tray installation in SHMS
- Fire safety issues in EEL related to aerogel detector have been addressed
- Boxes (~100) are currently stored in room above Walter's machine shop.
- action item: ask about storing these boxes in physics storage building
- Discussion about aerogel detector documentation in Hall C Wiki - Arthur will check if any additional info needed
- NPS prototype - working on chiller selection
- GluEx DIRC - discussion about transporting bars from SLAC to JLab (Greg)
- recent decision is to use digital cameras for monitoring during transportation (resolution, compact) - a suitable model has been selected, but still need to test the performance in actual conditions, e.g., lighting is an important parameter
- work on monitoring software is ongoing
- time frame is now July/August for transporting
- EIC DIRC - discussion about ordering the new lens for test beam tests (T9) at CERN
DETECTORS AT CERN (Rachel)
- Pixel detectors are installed and running - taking cosmic data
- Forward pixel detector has now been included into the global run environment - configured and taking data through the global pipeline
- works well - some details like timing off by a few bunch crossings, but ok for now, data not yet used for alignment etc., working on improvements in software and timing
- Discussion about HEP lab space at CUA
- Discussion about writing of TDR reports
PBWO4 AT CUA (Richard, Andres)
- prototype mechanical assembly largely complete - a few pictures can be found here
- Next: calibrations (vertical motion, rotation, vibration)
- APD-based readout - test setup complete for measurements in noise-controlled environment
- Next: take data in noise-controlled environment and compare
DATA ANALYSES (Salina, Vardan, Arthur)
- Salina plans to analyze Hall A 12 GeV JLab DVCS data to extract the neutral pion cross section - plans a meeting with the DVCS spokespeople for approval of this analysis
- TCS figure of merit - send out request for an independent evaluation of Vardan's analysis
- if assumptions are ok and Vardan's results hold, proceed with proposal based on competitiveness with HDICE experiment
NEXT MEETING: WED. 19 APRIL AT 10:00 AM (EDT)
