JLAB DETECTOR UPDATES (Arthur)
- Inner tray assembly for SP-11 aerogel detector tray is complete. Next step will be to install the wires (safety feature for aerogel tiles once installed)
- NPS prototype tests can commence - all necessary safety training was completed
- Action items:
- Bring SP-11 aerogel tiles to JLab in week 26th Sept
- Estimate density of materials for SP-11 tray - important for delta electron generation/contribution in experiments
- Start NPS prototype tests of PMT shielding in magnetic field
KAON DATA ANALYSIS (Marco)
- A missing normalization factor was found and is now included in the analysis
- Discussion of current analysis results
- Action items:
- Optimize model and binning
- Determine dt for each bin - will be helpful for decisions on t-binning
- Extract kaon FF using the most recent cross sections
- Check that results from 3-parameter and 4-parameter unseparated cross section fits give the same separated cross section result - assumes that 4-parameter fit converges
PROJECTIONS FOR UPCOMING KAON EXPERIMENT (Salina)
- Working on projections of pion statistics that will be taken during our kaon electroproduction experiment last year - depending on stats and projected systematics, this may provide important information on pion form factor at low Q^2
APS-BASED READOUT OF PBWO4 CRYSTAL DETECTORS (Andres, Rich, Rishabh)
- Work done in context of Neutral Particle Spectrometer construction and also PbWO4-based calorimeter at the Electron-Ion Collider. Main question: is APD or PMT based readout is more favorable?
- Discussion about seeing first signals using a SiPM kit from CAEN
- Next steps: use the Hamamatsu APDs we have at CUA and construct an LED-based system that can be read through our data acquisition system
- Action items:
- Locate the specifications for the Hamamatsu APDs
- Read Hamamatsu APD signals with CUA ADC
- Measure crystal with APD and compare to crystal with PMT
UPDATE ON CMS PIXEL DETECTORS (Rachel)
- Module construction at Nebraska almost done. Next will be focus on mounting modules on disks at Fermilab etc.
- Installation at CERN will be in early Spring 2017
- Brief discussion about building the spare modules at CUA in 2017
STATUS OF GLUEX AND DIRC DETECTORS (Greg)
- General discussion about GluEx status
- Some data taken in Hall D over the last year, calibrations ongoing
- Many opportunities for data analysis - working on identifying specific channels that could be CUA project
- General discussion about GlueEx upgrade, and in particular DIRC detectors
- upgrade will use parts of the Babar DIRC
- transportation is a complex procedure - CUA will be involved in checking the integrity of the bars
NEXT MEETING: WEDNESDAY, 28 SEPTEMBER, 10:00 AM (EDT)
