DISCUSSION MATERIAL

DISCUSSION FOLLOWING THE SLIDES

  • How to deal with already existing working groups?
  • Steering Committee is working on a solution
  • Collaboration between some subgroups and existing groups
  • Ancillary: luminosity + polarimeter
  • Close collaboration emphasized for groups forward detectors and forward detector/IR (forward hear means "forward" and "backward")
  • Relation to EIC Detector R&D Consortia
  • R&D Consortia have been looking at specific technologies - they will keep their structure and will have their own organization and meetings
  • EIC subgroups will focus on the technologies (existing and new) and their integration
  • EIC subgroups will collaborate with existing consortia and also encourage new groups to join
  • Organization of regular subconvener+convener meetings - how will they be organized? Agenda of the meetings?
  • Initial estimate was every 1-2 weeks, but should further discuss - present a plan at the January 23th quarterly meeting
  • Important to use the same application (Indico) to collect all meetings and meeting materials
  • Communications with Physics WG and Software WG
  • Regular meetings with Physics WG are planned and will be scheduled in the Google Calendar
  • Software group has an ex-officio member in the Convener group of both Physics and Detector WG
  • Contributors list - sharing and contact information
  • important for people to see who works on what - post the list on the EICUG web page
  • Conveners have compiled an initial list with input from SC, labs, university groups, R&D consortia and will send a marked up version to the subconveners
  • Tasks for the First Workshop at Temple U. (19-21 March)
  • Overall goal: make a first version of an interactive table of detector requirements - helpful to identify holes and also for integration tasks
  • aim will be to show how physics substantiates the requirements in the table - physics plots could be linked to the table, and also the full reports
  • Starting point can be the EIC R&D Handbook, but keep in mind that some requirements may not be solidly justifed
  • Subconveners set up the structure of the subgroups
  • Initial list of contributors will be circulated
  • Mailing lists and calendars are being set up
  • Gather information on detector requirements and where they came from
  • identify relevant plots for requirements from the R&D reports or other resources
  • identify the relevant reports that should be linked
  • Gather information on detector technologies
  • these tables/lists should be open to additional technologies and have a comparative nature
  • Timeline for the next few weeks
  • Subconveners organize their groups
  • Conveners meet with remaining subconveners who could not attend today
  • Status update at the Quarterly EIC meeting 23 January
  • Individual meetings of subgroups will commence after the 23 January meeting

NEXT COMMON MEETING: JANUARY 23
