PARTICIPANTS
- Subconveners: A. Jentsch, A. Mastroserio, D. Neyret, E. Chudakov, Y. Furletova, K. Gnanvo, L. Greiner, T. Hemmick, P. Rossi, V. Berdnikov, W. Brooks, M. Murray, E. Aschenauer, D. Gaskell
- Conveners: K. Barish, T. Horn, P. Jones, S. dalla Torre, M. Diefenthaler
- SC: R. Ent
BRIEF SUMMARY AND ACTION ITEMS
- The WS agenda should address two major points:
- Build the (subgroup) teams - need parallel discussion time, preferably Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, where the latter would allow European collaborators to call in
- Facilitate meetings between the groups, e.g. DWG, PWG, SWG - need plenary discussion time, preferably following initial parallel discussions
- Detector technologies, central detector, and likely electronics/DAQ require ~2-3 sessions each for presentations and discussions. Forward Detector+ancillary/polarimeter/lumi needs ~5 sessions.
- need time for plenary style complementary detectors and software Q&A sessions - these should not come too far towards the end of the meeting
- Introductions in the parallel sessions should be working group style, not global introduction talks
- Action Items:
- work out the details of the subgroup programs
- make a list of points that should be discussed in joint discussions with
- PWG
- what physics processes
- where compare fast MC and full MC
- how to get sigma separation per process
- requirements on HCAL
- requirements on low-Q2 tagger - inclusive physics WG
- DWG
- low-Q2 tagger - technologies, connection to calorimetry WG
- tracking and central detector/magnet group
- SWG
- survey of software requirements
DETAILED SUMMARY
TRACKING (Peter, Annalisa, Kondo, Leo)
- First WG meeting had good attendance, working out regular meeting time and identifying basic tasks and how people
- Structure of parallel session: introduction by subconveners, technology survey, R&D and other group reports/presentations
- Time needed: 2-3 sessions
- Need interaction with SWG, PWG, and central detector/magnet groups
- Need support for fast MC and custom tools and figure out when to use them instead of more time-consuming full MC
PARTICLE ID (Patrizia, Tom)
- Current number of contributors: 18 members
- Structure of parallel session: overview, technology overview, new technologies
- Time needed: ~4 hours
- Interactions with other groups: start with email request to PWGs and follow up with individual meetings at the Temple U. WS
- Action Item: meet with wider community outside eRD14, e.g. include dE/dx (STAR)
CALORIMETRY (Eugene, Vladimir)
- Current number of signed participants: 40 - first meeting had 20-25 participants
- Structure of parallel sessions: overview, description of technologies
- Time needed: 3-4 hours
- Still working on how to best interact with PWG and SWG
FAR FORWARD DETECTORS/IR INTEGRATION (Alexander J., Michael, Yulia)
- Structure of parallel sessions: subconvener overview, technologies, invite specific talks from PWG, ACC, Interaction Region
- Time needed: 2-3 sessions with much discussion (see below for additional time required for polarimetry)
- In the process of reaching out to community
ANCILLARY DETECTORS/POLARIMETRY (Elke, Dave)
- Combined sessions with Far Forward/IR Integration: Polarimetry adds 2 sessions
- Action item: collect information and see how sessions could work - may need to add time at end of day on Thursday (Day 1 of meeting)
CENTRAL DETECTOR/MAGNET (Will)
- Just getting started, working with Conveners to better define the scope and connection to infrastructure/installation and detector subgroups
- Generally aim to address combined detector performance, how detailed the magnet description needs to be and what is already in the simulations, and how to keep current on detector subgroup parameters
- Action items include: define critical milestones and how to coordinate and assign tasks
- Suggestions:
- look into if an existing magnet could be used for an EIC detector
- consider ease of assembly/disassembly of the experiment (also relevant for IR layout)
COMPLEMENTARY DETECTORS (Elke)
- Session/discussion at Temple U.: should be open discussion in plenary on how to get to complementary detectors - discuss the path forward
- Also important: how to get requirements from the detector subgroups
DAQ/ELECTRONICS (Andrea, Damien)
- Just starting up, first meeting had 14 participants
- high-quality discussion despite the early stage
- missing input from other groups, e.g. front end, but no show stopper for starting
- Still need to define the parallel session program - should be on Friday morning (day 2) to allow remote participation by subconveners
- Subconveners cannot attend in person, but will send delegate to take notes
SIMULATION (Markus)
- Before meeting plan a survey of software requirements - google survey
- No additional tutorials planned
- Session/presentation plans: plenary update on software changes, Q&A session, ~2 hour
BRIEF DISCUSSION ABOUT PLENARY PLANS FROM SC
- Day 1 morning: lab representatives, project director BNL, introductions/overviews on accelerator and status of R&D, Interaction Region, Timeline and Goals
