CRYSTAL PROTOTYPE CALIBRATIONS (Blessed)

  • Discussion of vibration calibration results
  • For calibration of accelerometer sensor used gravity and a construction laser for alignment. Each axis was calibrated separately. Also investigated the impact of misalignment
  • Action Items:
  • Add instructions on Arduino readout to Wiki
  • Add discussion of misalignment studies to Wiki
  • Revisit significant figures and uncertainties in tables
  • Add pictures to illustrate setup details
  • steady state measurements without slip ring were made
  • Action Items:
  • Repeat measurements with slip ring - cables are more stable now, fixed to rod
  • rotation measurements were made at two settings (2=2rpm and 3=10rpm) and at a sampling rate of 100 msec. In these measurements the y-axis was aligned along the rod, the rotation was in the x-z plane. The first two points in each data set are not physical - due to data collection and not due to physical acceleration. Observe small deviations from zero for y-axis. This is could be due to a misalignment of the rod, but more likely due to the rod itself not being perfectly straight - can verify this by eye. Contribution of vibration shows up at higher frequencies than the rotation itself (peaks on top of the sinusoidal form
  • Action Items:
  • Perform measurements with different rotation speeds - for each rotation speed also take data at different sampling frequencies (1 ms and 10 ms)
  • Prepare data time series for measurements in previous two steps
  • Fit the time series with a sinusoidal function
  • Fast Fourier Transform the time series
  • Discussion of rotation calibration results
  • Performed calibration of motor setting vs. actually measured speed (rpm)
  • Action Items:
  • Calibrate motor setting to 35rpm, but allow flexibility for future optimizations
  • Evaluate uncertainties
  • Add pictures to illustrate setup
  • Load cell calibration - start taking data

CRYSTAL LIGHT YIELD STUDIES (Casey)

  • Analyzed all LY data together and evaluated uncertainties
  • still missing J44 data
  • Started measurements of BGO and SICCAS PbWO4 J24 (reference)
  • observe double peak in pedestal
  • Action Items:
  • Add all measurements to CODALOG and Crystal Log in Wiki
  • Include new data in LY global analysis
  • Investigate double peaking

PION/KAON STRUCTURE FUNCTIONS (Dannie)

  • Completed setup of ROOT and started going over scripts
  • Action Items:
  • Run scripts, figure out optimal way to create images with suitable cuts, start looking into simulations of particle detection and figure out impact of detector characteristics on measurement and measurement requirements on detector design
  • Select one crystal that characterized last summer and see if can reproduce the results

HMS AEROGEL CHERENKOV PMT STUDIES (Salim)

  • Setup darkbox to checkout PMTs
  • Researched impact of helium on PMT performance
  • Action Items:
  • Test a good PMT and the HMS PMTs with darkbox
  • Continue research on impact of helium on PMTs and also if there is a way to show that helium is present in PMT
  • Remove bad PMTs from cylinders
